A sea of vineyards in Pelago

When you think of foliage in fall, your mind immediately goes to the trees. However, the colors of fall also adorn the vineyards, which can rest after bearing their precious fruits.
When walking or arriving here by car, the leaves of the endless vineyards in the area around Pelago (Chianti Rufina DOCG production area) look like an elegant, calm and orderly sea. Pelago is located to the northeast of Florence.

Simply walk along the shore of Lake Londa and lose yourself in the beauty of the colors of fall reflected in the waters of this artificial lake, which is nonetheless a source of numerous benefits for the little town of Londa, northeast of Florence, at the entrance to the Casentino Forest National Park.

Also by the lake, stands the building in which the Infopoint is located, where people can receive advice for visiting the area and pick up information brochures and maps.

The Park
The Park

There are hundreds and hundreds of trees in the Pratolino Medici Park, which is located on Via Bolognese in the municipality of Vaglia.
The infinite hues of the leaves on the trees, like evergreens, horse chestnuts, large oaks, holm oaks and plane trees, invite you to walk, run and have fun in company.
For art lovers, the suggestion to take a look at the works of art here, such as the Giant or the Buontalenti Chapel, remains valid.
The park stays open until October 27.

Nature in Travalle

The Travalle Park, in the municipality of Calenzano, is a huge green area, partly rural and partly hilly, free for use by all. It features different landscapes, from the Marina torrent running through it on the slopes the Calvana Mountains, which lend themselves to more challenging trekking excursions, to the typical rural Tuscan settings, dotted with farms and rural villas. In this season, Travalle is also full of fall colors, in the vineyards and forests.

For those staying in the city, a walk along the Arno is definitely recommended, either on the Rovezzano side, with a pleasant stroll along the river bank, or in the opposite direction through the Cascine Park.

The city's largest park contains some 19,000 tree specimens and the most striking ones are the blazing colors of the ginkgo biloba, the most ancient trees, considered to be living fossils.
