Vetulonia is a small village that overlooks the Grosseto plain from above and is among the most important evidence of the flourishing Etruscan civilization. In fact, Vetulonia was a political and artistic power for centuries, as well as an important Etruscan center of trade. It is among the Etruscan wonders like the Tomb of the Pietrera (Petrary) and the Tombs of the Diavolino (Little Devil) and the Fibula d’Oro (Golden Fibula) that a splendid view of the surrounding landscape opens up before the visitor’s eyes.
You can also enjoy a privileged view of the Gulf of Follonica from the Rocca Pisana in Scarlino, a place rich in history, freely accessible either along alleyways and characteristic flights of steps starting from Scarlino, or by car via a scenic route.
