The medieval village of Prata stands on a rocky spur in the municipality of Massa Marittima and is famous because, according to some historians, the Pia mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy may have been Pia di Ranuccio di Filippo Malavolti, who became Lady of Prata after her marriage to Tollo da Prata in 1282. The village has, moreover, a historical-artistic importance given by the numerous architectural evidence, such as the “cassero” (the keep), now used as a dwelling, with an arched opening that is still visible, and the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in the 13th century and renovated in the late 18th century. Outside the city walls, it is possible to visit the neoclassical-style Church of Misericordia dedicated to San Sebastiano.
Sticciano, a hamlet in the municipality of Roccastrada, is a small medieval village that stands on the top of a hill surrounded by thick vegetation. Thanks to its elevated position, the village enjoys an extraordinary view of the entire plain. Access to the village is possible only via a large road that allows visitors to admire the striking panorama of the Maremma.

Sebastiano” (Arch of St. Sebastian).
