Great loop of Valdinievole
The Great loop of Valdinievole includes hiking trails and paths, which you can also travel along by MTB.
The route starts from the central square of Monsummano Terme - an ideal place for recharging your batteries at one of the many coffee bars in the square before tackling the day ahead - and it then continues along the banks of the Nievole river, along the Path of San Jacopo, passing Pieve a Nievole and arriving in Montecatini Terme.
Here, you can admire the beauty of the historic center and the thermal park, before setting off again on the loop.
Once you reach the towns of Margine Coperta and Buggiano Castello, overlooking the surrounding countryside, you come to Stignano, where a moderate climb begins towards Uzzano Castello and, after passing the village, becomes an easy descent into Pescia.
Here, we leave the Path of San Jacopo and continue along the Alta Via (High Route) of Valdinievole, which winds through low mountain stretches full of woods and panoramic viewpoints.
After passing the towns of Malocchio and Macchino, the descent towards Canfittori begins.
From here, moving 4 kilometers along the CAI 240 Trail, you will reach Montecatini Alto, a charming historic village that can also be reached by funicular railway.
The route continues, downhill to the Nievole torrent, and then returns to Monsummano Terme.
