Lucca and the Plain by Bike

Our route starts from the beautiful piazza-garden in the heart of Porcari and, heading south, leads you some 9.3 miles (15 kilometers) to the picturesque Compitese area, famous for its beautiful camellias that lushly color the slopes of Monte Pisano in spring. Immersed in the quietness of these areas, continue pedaling along silent, hidden little streets until you reach the center of Lucca, about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) away. 

After the necessary stops to enjoy the art, food and wine, set off again, savoring the beautiful route over the city’s fascinating surrounding walls. Leaving the gate of San Jacopo, begin the journey back to Porcari, passing through the bevy of small towns that dot the plain of Lucca.
