The Bandite di Scarlino by bike
The Nature Reserve of Bandite reaches nearly 9,000 hectares of scented and lush Mediterranean scrub and owes this curious name to the frequent calls for bids that were issued, in the past, to sell portions of the forest. This route, suitable for experienced cyclists, is for those who enjoy both climbs and downhill descents and riding in nature, through woods and streams.
The climb reaches Tirli and continues to the start of the Querce Numerata Trail. For downhill riders, the trail is mixed, with several challenging and entertaining sections. It then continues to reach the village of Caldana, where a stop in front of the beautiful Church of San Biagio is a must.
We continue to return to the Bandite area and descend down the Gagliardo trail...in name and in fact!
