A panoramic itinerary among small villages
The ring itinerary leads you, in ten kilometers and with little elevation gain, to the villages in Massa e Cozzile, small and picturesque gems to be discovered.
You start from the main parking lot in Colle di Buggiano along a fine paved road and cross the village.
The path is marked by green and light blue arrows and, following them, we reach Margine dei Ferri and Le Poiane. Continuing along the course of the Cessana stream, among oaks and chestnut trees, we reach the ruins of an old 19th-century powder magazine.
At the crossroad, continue on Route 3, climbing to the right at Cucco and Vinzacchia. Shortly after, you reach Cozzile, a village perched on a hill. Thanks to a magnificent terrace placed in a strategic position, it is possible to enjoy a vast panorama: on clear days it is possible to observe all the provinces of Tuscany.
Leaving the village, continue further to Massa, one of the oldest fortified centers in the area that is definitely worth an exploratory stop. Leaving the village, we reach the town of Vetrignano, then return again to Colle di Buggiano and end the hike.
