Ring hike between Pescia and Collodi
An itinerary in the heart of Valdinievole, suitable for the whole family, with departure and arrival in the town of Pescia, passing through Collodi, a small and picturesque village, known for being the birthplace of Carlo Lorenzini, author of the Adventures of Pinocchio.
This is an opportunity to visit Pinocchio’s monumental park, reliving the story of the puppet through the works of great 20th-century artists; the historic Garzoni Garden, an extraordinary example of 18th-century Tuscan taste and culture; and the House of Butterflies, inhabited by hundreds of butterflies native to tropical and equatorial zones.
From the monastic complex of San Michele in Pescia, walk on CAI Path 251, which also corresponds to the Way of St. Jacopo. Shortly after, the road turns into a cart track on the Way of the Fable (Via della Fiaba) and you walk on beautiful pavement surrounded by olive groves.
Once in Collodi, a visit to the Pinocchio Park complex cannot be missed. Returning to CAI Path 251, the climb climbs the slopes of Mount Verruca. At Fonte di Meggio, we turn eastward, passing the villages of Monte a Pescia, Barignano and Cafaggio. In a short time, you return to Pescia to conclude the ring.
