Temporary exhibition by Alessandro Chiaramonti at the Chianti Sculpture Park

Until July 28, the new exhibition area "Open-air Gallery" of the Chianti Sculpture Park will host a temporary exhibition by Alessandro Chiaramonti, entitled "Le Piccole Cose" ("Small Things").

Chiaramonti plays with the concept of childhood and does so in a simple but concrete and direct way. It's easy for him: behind small things he hides great possibilities, intended and reserved for those who are able, or simply willing, to seize them.

Through rapid hand movements, sometimes just fingers, the material (clay) is modelled to create predominantly figurative sculptures. This proliferation of faces and bodies leads us to liken a work by Alessandro Chiaramonti to a page of text, written in italics. Moreover, the subjects always seem to have something to tell.

«There is an extremely intimate relationship between the artist and that phase that lies between the initial block of clay and the finished work. When I have a motherhood, for example, a thousand women's faces, memories, expressions pass through my head and hands; and then I change the position of my arms, my mood changes, what you want to convey and what is best to keep to yourself. Until, there it is!». For him, in fact, work is a process in continuous movement, as if it were a dance, a performance.

This year Chianti Sculpture Park celebrates its first twenty years of activity. This is also the opportunity to open new spaces to the public, a portion of the Park designed as an open-air gallery which will be used for temporary exhibitions.

Opening times:
everyday from 10 am to 6 p (last admission 5 pm).
