450 years after his passing, the events in House Vasari and Museum Horne in Florence

Fondazione Horne celebrates the person of Giorgio Vasari 450 years after his passing with a series of initiatives dedicated to him scheduled between June and December 2024.

The great artists from Arezzo, at the service of Duke Cosimo I de' Medici for 20 years, was the author of great transformations of Florence, such as the renovation of Palazzo Vecchio, the design of a Gallery for the offices of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, nowadays the Uffizi Gallery, and the famous Vasari Corridor.

The multifaceted talent of Vasari has come down to us also through The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects (Vite de’ più eccellenti pittori, scultori, e architettori), that is one of the first essays on art history ever written.

The best way to pay homage to the artist and art historian could not be other than a series of guided tours, theme reading and workshops with which to retrace his life and rediscover his talent.

The events are held in different Vasari places, including House Vasari, where he lived.
The program Sui passi di Giorgio Vasari includes reading of Lives, activities for children and families and a workshop at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno.
