Open d’Italia—or the Italian Open, the most important international event organized by the Italian Golf Federation—will be held at the Argentario Golf Club from June 26–29.
The tournament, which will put up a prize pool of $3 million, has been listed as a “European Swing” event.
The Italian Open has been held since 1925 and has been an official stop on the prestigious DP World Tour since 1972. Play is under the rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews, the DP World Tour and the local rules issued by the competition committee.
The competition format calls for 156 players to take part in the tournament, played over 72 holes, 18 per day. After the first two rounds, the cut-off leaves in the competition the top 65 finishers and any tied in 65ᵗʰ place.
Hosting this 82ⁿᵈ edition is the spectacular Argentario Golf Club with 18 holes and a course perfectly integrated with the vegetation of Monte Argentario, among hills, olive trees, oaks and ponds, with panoramic views from the Orbetello Lagoon to the bay of Talamone.
