The recipe of fava bean stew

A rich and tasty side dish, a simple recipe suitable for all palates! Stew is an easy way to enjoy these typically springtime legumes.
With the addition of bacon, this dish can also become a main course.

Ingredients

  • 700 g of shelled fresh fava beans
  • 150 g of bacon
  • 1 fresh onion
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Preparation

Shell the fava beans, wash them and set aside.

Slice the onion and brown it in 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and once wilted, add the bacon cut into strips.

As soon as the bacon becomes crispy, add the fava beans.

Add a full cup of hot water and cook for about 20 minutes over medium heat.

Adjust salt and mix well. Add more water if needed.

Sprinkle with black pepper.
